Favorite BlogHim post about BlogHer of the day

Adam from Darwinian Web makes an observation about "chick blogs":

Based on my referrer logs I've discovered a valuable lesson. If you link to female bloggers and say nice things about them, they link right back. Weird. Guys don't do that. When is the next Blogher?

And here I am, proving his point.

Favorite BlogHer post of the day

BlogHers say the darndest things. (Am I dating myself with that reference...anyone remember that show. Anyone?)

Today I found this post from sarah marinara:

I just promised JP that I wouldn’t make her go to our 10 year high school reunion if we went to Blogher instead. We’ll see if that works out.

It better work out!

sarah marinara, who calls her blog the "ramblings of your average half mexican, half honkey mormon chick with an attitude and a perscription for Paxil" is so added to our BlogHerRoll :)

Is it so sad that I need this?

Showernote
I saw this little item on popgadget and thought: I bet just about every BlogHer could use one of these. (Except Halley Suitt who is, we learn today, a woman who prefers a bath.) I have definitely reached either the age, or the level of busy-ness, that necessitates my writing something down if I actually want to have a hope in hell of remembering it. Now, I haven't noticed flashes of brilliance hitting me in the shower particularly, but somehow I think having this erasable note tablet in the shower would inspire such flashes.

At the same time, I feel a little obsessive admitting this appeals to me. Who's with me?

"This is a conference that the community built"

Asked to sum up BlogHer Conference '05 for The San Francisco Chronicle's page one story yesterday, co-Founder Elisa Camahort said, "This is a conference that the community built."  (Read Carrie Kirby's story here).

Brilliant woman. Here's some (further) proof below. I rolled out of bed this morning to a mind-boggling 1,000+ photos and hundreds of your posts and have been giggling, exclaiming and, frankly, tearing up ever since. Here's a starter list of links to your writing for your recommendations and improvements:

This is all the blogging I'm able to do today -- I'm digging in to read.

Thank you for the day that you created.

Watching You Get Your BlogHer On

Some of you recently personalized the BlogHer brand, and the results are faaabulous. Check you out:

(Apparently she let 'er rip after The Real Kato threw the creative gauntlet, the one that giggled me all the way out the door last week.)

  • Rachel's Summer Spin produces the first known BlogHer mashup video featuring Renegade - watch by clicking on the graphic below. Apparently, this video grew out of Rachel's conversation with Markus Sandy, who's sponsoring a couple of BlogHers:Bhc_sendawoman8lspng

  • Forget her blistering code and taxonomic acumen, Alexandra Samuel slays with her t-shirt ideas. Now that I've gotten my act together, you can buy them for a short time in the new, non-profit BlogHer Cafe (a temporary off-shoot of the Official BlogHer Gear Store). Alex, I gave you a hat-tip on my favorite and I'm bringing a Sharpie so you can sign mine:

Ovary-less Conversations About BlogHer

I actually have nothing to say on this topic. But I wanted to be sure that men such as John Welch, and non-childbearing women that he speaks so...intuitively for, have something engaging to read once they arrive on the BlogHer Web site. Something not so base as childcare. Don't know what I'm talking about? Read his comment on Scoble regarding BlogHer.

For those men and women who are OK with conferences built to accommodate women, we hope you'll stay, at least beyond the first post.

Back among our people: July 30 cometh

Como siempre, I'm up writing BlogHer emails between 4 and 6 a.m. Only today I got this gif-t via a trackback: Blogherface_1

LOL! Thank you, Ken of The Real Kato Online and your muse, Melissa of Suburban Bliss (think "Momtini"). I cannot wait to meet your whole posse. Get your tails out here in time for Friday dinner, won't you?

Off to wake the fam...

A man issues a challenge!

Love Scott Rafer's post here saying that real men like to be outnumbered and challenging other guys to sign up for BlogHer.

OK, so that was kind of the point of this post I wrote on my Worker Bees blog last month, but Scott perhaps shows a teensy bit more humor with his approach.

I like it.

And I can't seem to comment on his blog, so I thought I'd say so here.

And now that I've got Scott's attention, I thought I'd also add that I don't like blogs where you have to go through some rigmarole to be able to comment. :)

Oh, and PS-the list he's using is only the list for the Friday dinner, not the registrant list, so it's only fair to say there are a few more men signed up that aren't coming to dinner Friday night...although why they would miss it is anybody's guess! It is fair, however, to say that male registration is so far hanging out at around 10%. Come on dudes!
