Feel free to comment in this post if you want to participate in a Meetup de BlogHer!

BlogHer Meetup in Cambridge, MA

Beth Kanter, our notorious Live-BlogHer-on-the-street during this year's conference has announced a BlogHer Meetup in Cambridge MA on November 15th.

Beth was inspired to after seeing the speaker list for a symposium happening that weekend and noting that none other than Lisa Stone was on the roster, along with other active BlogHers like Nancy White, Chris Nolan and Mary Hodder.

Side note: with 9 out of 21 speakers being women, this symposium has achieved a diverstiry of perspective that few other similar conferences, seminars, or panels can claim. Good on them!

And check out Beth's blog for all the details for the BlogHer meet-up.

BlogHer Conference '06
Friday July 28 and Saturday July 29, 2006
San Francisco Bay Area
In 2005 we asked, "Where are the women bloggers?" Women who attended the conference answered that question with a resounding, "Right here!"

In 2006, in line with the goal of manifesting leadership by wired women (see the BlogHer Vision), we will ask, "How is your blog changing the world?"

How are blogs making a difference in your lives, your families, your communities, your businesses and/or the world around you?

Thank you, all of you who volunteered to help with next year's conference. We accept! As you'll see from these survey results, we BlogHers overwhelmingly want a second conference that is a two-day event with a heavy emphasis on serious curriculum (rich media and advanced tech training are biggies) and serious socializing. We'll be back to you in our next news bulletin with a description of how we'd like to work together on the many moving parts that BlogHer '06 requires.

PS-Special note to BlogHers on or near the Eastern United States: We heard your pleas for a BlogHer Conference East. Please bear with us as we grow the conference to two days first. BlogHer wants to go east in 2007.

In the meantime, we are, as always, open to any and all feedback, suggestions, offer, and ideas. Post them in comments here or by emailing:

This morning on the Yi-Tan call that I mentioned yesterday, we talked a bit about how even though we can establish relationships and ties online or virtually, there is a benefit to meeting face to face. I imagine that it's in that spirit that Keri is calling this auspicious meeting of the minds the "2005 Midwest BlogHer Meetup in Northern Minnesota."

Check out Keri and her BlogHer buddies!

We are everywhere: Meet up on July 30 no matter where you are

Josia just raised this point on the Start here: Announcing BlogHer post:

"What an incredible IDEA!! If I didn't have a baby I would definitely fly in from Israel! Please let me know if there is any way of participating virtually. It's the women of the world who are the true movers and shakers - enjoy the conference!"

To the latter--no kidding. Here's an example: I just returned from Zeitung Online 2005, a conference for German-language newspapers. How the heck, I wondered, did these folks get my name? Enter Katja Riefler, a journalist and media strategist who contributes to Poytner.org in addition to various German media publications and sites. She and I met at the Newspaper Association of America conference in March, and she suggested I talk about blogs in Berlin. Voila--the old girls' network in action.

Time to get our network on ladies -- Josia, there is definitely a way of participating virtually, mit or mit-out baby: Why not hold a BlogHer meet-up in your zip code?

Be our guest: Please use this post to link off to your blogs, where you can suggest a time and place for a July 30 BlogHer meet-up near you. Bring on the jpegs and podcasts!
